Frequently Asked Questions

  • What's the difference between this dating site and all the others?

Well firstly, this is not a dating site.

There is no doubt dating sites have worked for many with lots of successes but they do have their limitations and for many of us they simply have not worked.

We believe it's only actually when people meet that they can really find out about each other.

So we're trying to be something different, we're more of a singles club or meetup group.

Using our forum we have created a friendly community where like minded people can get together to organise social events for themselves without the pressure associated with dating sites.

  • What sort of events do you have in mind?

We've learned a lot from our first year. Initially we were just trying to create a large group of single friends and then to see where it took us. The emphasis was and is on creating a fun, friendly and safe environment.

Initially we discussed and did various things such as ten pin bowling, trips to the theatre and golfing days. Where we've got to though you can see from the list of events we've actually organised.

The skittles and walks evenings are always popular. Both of allow people to move around and get to know others in the group easily.

What we do next is up to you but already this year it looks as though walking, adventure and music are high on the list.

  • I don't know anyone - still sounds a little scary

We think we've worked this out. If you tell us you're coming to an event, ask and we will give you a mobile phone number to call when you arrive. One of us will come out to meet you, introduce you to other members and we'll make sure you're not left alone.

  • How much does it cost to join?

It costs nothing to join in and there are no other charges, it is completely free. The site is owned and sponsored by Knightsbridge Kitchens.

  • How do I get involved?

Very simple. Join the forum, join in the discussion and come along to one of the meetings.

  • Rules

There aren't a lot. You have to be single. The target age group is over 45 (only because we almost all are). Our youngest member is 41 and we have a few around 65. Obviously people will get together and it has happened already, so the second rule is if you were single when you joined, we don't want to lose you as a friend, so you're welcome to stay as a member.

The third rule is very simple - you must be nice!

  • No I don't get it - run it by me again

Initially people have difficulty understanding the concept because we're different to anything they've come across before. It's easiest if you think of us more like a group of your best friends.

We're not trying to make money out of you. We are about redefining what being single is like for people in our age group.

The only rules we have are the ones above and the bit about being nice seems like a joke but is the core ethos of our group.

To repeat there is no joining fee, no membership fee and no ongoing fees. To pay for the website and forum in the future we will add a small charge to some of the events but we're talking about maybe a couple of pounds per person per year.

There's no committee, no organisation, no chairman, no elections, no membership secretary, no anything.

Events are organised by members for members and yes you are not only welcome to organise something but are encouraged to.
